GARLAND, Texas - The Lamar Lady Cardinals continue on their longest road swing of the season when they face SMU in a non-conference women's basketball game at 6 p.m. Monday at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

This is the second contest of Lamar's five straight games away from the Montagne Center. The Lady Cardinals (3-2) started the trek off on the right foot with a 68-60 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday.

Dominique Edwards, who registered her third double-double of the season in the win over Louisiana-Lafayette, leads Lamar in scoring at 18.0 points per game and in rebounding with 9.8 boards per contest. Shauna Long (12.6 ppg) and Gia Ayers (10.4) are also averaging in double figures for Lamar.

Lamar coach Robin Harmony knows that Monday's contest will be a tough test for the Lady Cardinals.

"SMU is a very good team," Harmony said. "They're going to switch defenses, so we have to be ready for that. We're also going to have to stay out of foul trouble."

The Mustangs (5-0) are coming off an 81-69 road win at Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. Kena Mays leads SMU in scoring at 19.6 points per game. Akil Simpson averages 15.4 points per game and pulls down a team-best 8.8 rebounds per game. Destynee Hives-McCray averages 12 points per game for SMU.

The Mustangs are averaging 81.2 points per game and shoot 42.3 percent from the field as a team.

"We're going to have to play good defense, and we have to box out," Harmony said. "We have to limit their second chances."

The game is being played in Garland because Moody Coliseum, the Mustangs' home venue, is undergoing renovations.

Following Monday's game, Lamar heads to New Mexico State for games against Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Northern Illinois at the Aggie Hotel Encarto Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 29-30. After that, the Lady Cardinals take a break for exams before visiting Missouri State on Dec. 15. Lamar's next home game is 6 p.m. Dec. 18 against Texas State.
