Lamar Women Host Texas Southern Wednesday at 7 p.m.

BEAUMONT - The Lamar University women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Wednesday night when they host the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University at 7:00 at the Montagne Center.

The Lady Cardinals enter the game with a 1-1 record, on the heels of a 59-50 loss at Texas Tech last Friday. They opened the season with a 58-49 win over Grambling State last Wednesday.

Lamar is led by Nikki Williams who is averaging a Southland Conference-best 16.5 points per game, while Darika Hills is averaging 10.5 points and eight rebounds per game. Brittney Williams is averaging 10 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while Agnija Reke has run the team from the point guard position, passing out 6.5 assists per game.

As a team the Lady Cardinals are averaging 54 points per game, while also allowing an averaging of 54 points per contest. Lamar has won the rebounding battle 42 to 41 through two games, and has 14 steals compared to their opponents nine.

Texas Southern enters the game with a 1-1 record, on the heels of a 56-51 loss at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Lady Tigers opened the season with a 51-39 victory over Louisiana Lafayette on Nov. 14 in Houston.

After Wednesday's game against TSU, the Lady Cards will continue their four-game home stand with a 5 p.m. showdown with Alcorn State on Tuesday at the Montagne Center.
