BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar Lady Cardinals look to extend their non-conference winning streak at the Montagne Center to 36 games as they host the Our Lady of the Lake Saints at 7 p.m. Monday.


Lamar (4-1) has won four straight since a season-opening loss at defending national champion Baylor. The Lady Cardinals come off impressive road wins at Ole Miss and Louisiana-Monroe last week.

Lady Cards roll in season opener
Kalis Loyd's 24 points led a balanced scoring attack as the Lamar University women's basketball team opened its season with an 82-62 non-conference win over Our Lady of the Lake at the Montagne Center on Friday night.


"Any time you can beat teams from the SEC and Sun Belt Conference, those are quality wins," said Lamar coach Larry Tidwell, who picked up his 110th career victory in the win over Louisiana-Monroe, putting him atop 5the all-time list for wins at Lamar. "We played really well in those games."


Kalis Loyd, who averaged 24 points in the two road wins, leads Lamar in scoring at19.0 points per game. Loyd moved into sole possession of third place on the Lamar career chart with 1,526 points, is closing in on Carol Sims, who is second with 1,571 points and Uirannah Jackson, who holds the Lamar record with 1,730 points.


Our Lady of the Lake (5-0) comes in to Monday's game off a 61-51 victory over Texas A&M International on Saturday. The Saints are led by Nikkia Davis and Nashae Owens, who each average 14.0 points per game.


Lamar leads the all-time series 1-0. The Lady Cardinals opened their campaign last season with an 82-62 win over the Saints at the Montagne Center behind 24 points from Kalis Loyd and 10 from Jasmin Henderson. Lamar led by as many as 36 points in the contest.


Following Monday's game, Lamar is at Texas Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday before taking a break for exams. Lamar returns to action at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 by hosting Northwood.
