BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University senior guard Kalis Loyd was named the Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances in road wins over Ole Miss and Louisiana-Monroe.
Loyd averaged 24.0 points per game along with 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 6.0 steals over the two games. At Ole Miss, the senior from Malmoe, Sweden (Borgarskolan H.S.), shot 80 percent from the field (12-for-15) and accounted for 27 points in the Lady Cardinals' 85-71 win. In the 22-point win against the Warhawks, Loyd scored 21 points and recorded a career-high nine steals and tied a career high with seven assists. Loyd currently sits third all-time on Lady Cardinals' scoring list with 1,526 points.
