Lamar's Game Notes Get Acrobat Reader

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team continues its eight-game road swing when it plays at unbeaten UTEP at 8:05 p.m. Thursday in El Paso, Texas.

Lamar (5-3) is 2-2 on its current sojourn, coming off a 61-34 loss to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in the final game of the Basketball Travelers Tip-Off Classic in Lawrence, Kan., on Sunday.

Kalis Loyd leads Lamar in scoring at 16.6 ppg, while Monique Whittaker averages 10.1 points per game. Ria Pateraki, Lamar's lone representative on the all-tournament team in Kansas, had a career-high 10 points against IUPUI.

UTEP (6-0) is 5-0 on its home floor. The Miners rolled to a 63-27 win over visiting New Mexico State on Tuesday.

Gloria Brown comes off the bench to lead UTEP in scoring (12.2 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg). The Miners, who allow an average of just 52.5 points per game, outscore their opponents by an average of 21.2 points per contest.

Lamar leads the overall series 3-2, but the teams have not faced each other since the 1993-94 season.

Following Thursday's game, Lamar will travel to Fort Worth, Texas to meet TCU at 1 p.m. Sunday. Both games will be aired live on LamarCardinals.com.
