Lady Cardinals Host Alcorn State at 5 p.m. Tuesday

BEAUMONT - In their first of three games this week, the Lamar University women's basketball team hosts the Lady Braves of Alcorn State at 5 p.m. at the Montagne Center.

Tuesday's game was originally scheduled to tip off at noon, but was rescheduled for a 5 p.m. start.

Lamar enters the game with a 2-1 record after they steamrolled Texas Southern at the Montagne Center last Wednesday night 79-52. They opened the season with a 58-49 win over Grambling State and dropped a 59-50 decision to Texas Tech on the road.

The Lady Cards are led by Nikki Williams who is averaging 15 points per game, while Darika Hills is averaging 12.7 points and eight rebounds per game. Brittney Williams is averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while Agnija Reke has run the team from the point guard position, passing out six assists per game.

As a team the Lady Cardinals are averaging 62.3 points per game, while allowing an averaging of 53.3 points per contest. Lamar has won the rebounding battle 42.3 to 39.7 through two games, and has 28 steals compared to their opponents 16.

After Tuesday's game against Alcorn, the Lady Cards will continue their four-game home stand with a 7 p.m. showdown with LSU-Shreveport on Wednesday at the Montagne Center.
