Lady Cards Head to Waco for Showdown with No. 10 Baylor

WACO, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team will take to the road for a showdown with the Nations No. 10 team Monday night, taking on the Baylor Lady Bears at 7:00 at the Ferrell Center. Lamar enters the game with a 5-1 record after a 73-67 win over Louisiana Monroe on Saturday afternoon at the Montagne Center. The Lady Cardinals have won four straight games after dropping a 59-50 decision to Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas on November 21. The Lady Cards are led by Brittney Williams and Nikki Williams who are each averaging 13.3 points per game. Darika Hill is averaging 12.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and Trashanna Smith leads the team in rebounding with eight per game, while Agnija Reke leads LU with 5.5 assists per game. As a team the Lady Cardinals are averaging 64.3 points per game, while allowing an averaging of 55.3 points per contest. Lamar has won the rebounding battle 40.5 to 38.2 through six games, and has 61 steals compared to their opponents 49. Baylor comes into Monday's game on the heels of a 75-65 win over St. Johns on Saturday night. The Lady Bears, who are 7-1 on the year, are led by Rachel Allison's 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game Jhasmin Player's 12 points per game and Danielle Wilson's 11.7 points per game. After Monday's game at Baylor, the Lady Cardinals will take a 10 day break for finals before they return to action at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on December 18th at 7 p.m. at the Montagne Center.
