Dusty Smith who was one of the key components in Lamar's run to a third place finish in the 2007 NCAA Championship has joined the Cardinal staff as an assistant coach.

Smith letter for the Cardinals from 2004-07 and compiled a 73.80 career stroke average. He shot par or better in 32 rounds over his final two seasons.

He earned PING All-America Honorable mention honors as a junior when he posted a career-best 73.08 average and tied for 10th at the NCAA Championship with a 2-under-par 286 total. He also earned the second of his three All-Southland Conference accolades that season when he was one of four Cardinals named to the first team.

Smith posted eight Top 10 finishes in 2005-06 and shot par or better in 20 rounds, including six in the 60s. Over his career he had
