Lamar Women In Third Following Hiddenbrooke Intercollegiate First Round

VALLEJO, Calif. -- Lamar posted four of the 24-lowest scores and sits in third place at the 18-team Hiddenbrooke Intercollegiate at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club on Saturday.

Linda Persson is tied for 11th after going out in 38 and coming in with a 43 for an 81. Channing Norton and Fabienne Haremza are tied for 17th with matching 82s, while Therese Nilsson is tied for 24th after her 83. Lina Nilsson-Balfe shot a 93 and is tied for 80th.

Nicole Forshner of Central Arkansas leads the field with a two-over-par 74. UCA leads the team race with a 321 with Northern Arizona at 325, two strokes ahead of Lamar's 237. Only Lamar and NAU had four players rank among the top-25.

Blustery conditions affected the entire field of 102 players as only five golfers finished their rounds with scores in the 70s.

The second round will begin Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
