Lady Cards Struggle on Opening Day of Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Lamar Lady Cardinals struggled to an opening-round 332 Friday on the first day of competition in the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. The Lady Cards finished the day 12th overall.

It marked the first time this season Lamar failed to have a golfer finish a round with a score under 80.

Freshman Bertille DuPont led the Lady Cardinals with a nine-over 81 on the par 72 course. She ended the day tied for 39th. Junior Nghi Ngo was just a stroke back of Dupont with a 10-over 82. Ngo's score places her day five places back of Dupont.

Lamar's other three golfers ended the day within a stroke of each other led by freshman Kelly Erasmus. Erasmus carded an 84 to end the day tied for 53rd overall. Both freshman Wenny Chang and sophomore Taylor Stockton closed the day shooting 85. The duo enters Saturday's second round tied for 58th.

The Lady Cardinals return to action for the second round of the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate Saturday morning. LU is slated to tee off at 9:30 a.m.
