Lamar women's golf team in 12th at Augusta State
March 16, 2012 AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Lamar women's golf team struggled to 12th place after the first round of the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate on Friday. Play was delayed due to weather for over an hour, although every team was able to complete the first round. Playing on the par 72, 6,248-yard Forest Hills Golf Club, Lamar shot a 25-over-par 313 team total. The 14-team field will play round two on Saturday before closing the 54-hole event Sunday. UTSA leads the field after posting a 10-over-par 298. Host Augusta State and No. 31 Purdue are tied for second at 299, with Indiana (303) and Kennesaw State (304) rounding out the top five. The Lady Cardinals' 313 total leaves them one stroke behind Southern Mississippi. Purdue's Kishi Sinha shot a 2-under-par 70 and leads the team field of 75 golfers by two strokes. Sinha was the only player to break par on Friday. LU freshman Nghi Ngo shot a 75 to lead the Lady Cards and is tied for 12th place. Ngo shot a 40 on the front nine, but posted a solid 1-under-par 35 on the back nine. Sophomore Katelyn McDougal and junior Julie Aime also broke 80 on Friday. McDougal is tied for 39th after a 78, while Aime is one stroke behind in a tie for 45th. Sarah Nicholas shot an 81 and is tied for 61st, two strokes ahead of Lauren Van Gerven who is tied for 69th after an 83. LAMAR
