STILLWATER, Okla. - The Lamar Lady Cardinals improved their score by 11 shots Friday, but remained tied for 21st after the second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Regional Championships. The Lady Cardinals fired a 318-307 - 614 on the par-72 Karsten Creek Country Club course, and enter Saturday's final round tied with Wichita State.

"We clearly settled down and played much more relaxed today," said head coach Brian White. "I would like to see a little more consistency from our five, but there is a tendency by younger players to more pressure on themselves, especially when surrounded by so many talented teams. Instead of doing the things that made you successful, they start to press and tell themselves they need to do more. We've got another round to play and we're going to come out here and lay it on the line."

Sophomore Taylor Stockton recorded the best round of the day for Lamar, shooting a 3-over-par 75. Stockton is tied for 67th overall in the 126-person field with a two-round total of 10-over-par 154.

Freshman Kelly Erasmus shot a 4-over 76 for Lamar on Friday to move into a tie for 60th with a two-round total of 9-over-par 153.

Freshman Wenny Chang shot a 5-over 77 on Friday for a two-round total of 158, putting her in a tie for 87th. Nghi Ngo carded a 79 on Friday, placing her in a tie for 97th with a 36-hole total of 160. Freshman Bertille DuPont shot an 85, giving her a two-round score of 166, tied for 112th.

Stockton, who started her round on the 10th tee, played her final nine holes at even par. Chang finished her day on a strong note by getting a birdie on the par-5, 490-yard ninth hole.

The Lady Cards return to action Saturday for the final round of 18 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
