The Lamar Lady Cardinals fired a tournament course record 300-299-300 - 899 to win the 2013 ORU Shootout Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla. The Lady Cardinals increased their lead every round on the par-71 Meadowbrook Country Club Course after opening the tournament with a one-stroke lead. LU had pushed its advantage to 11 strokes at the conclusion of Monday's second round. Lamar finished the day besting the field by 14 strokes.

Lamar had three golfers finish among the leaderboard's top 10, with its top-four finishers all within four strokes of each other.

"This is a great win for our team," said head coach Brian White. "The ORU Shootout is a difficult tournament. The winner each of the past 10 years has gone on to compete in the NCAA Regionals, so this is a good barometer for a team early in the season.

"Last season we won four tournaments, including the conference. Despite losing our top player from last year we set that same goal for this season. We want to win four tournaments plus conference. Any time you lose your top player there will be some issues, but I've got five players who I know have the ability to finish among our top four," added White.

Freshman Bertille DuPont led Lamar by carding an 11-over par 224 for the week to finish fourth overall. DuPont a recorded two-over 73 on the final day to lock-up her top-five finish. Classmate Wenny Chang joined DuPont among the overall top five. Chang carded a three-round 77-72-76 - 225 to finish tied for fifth overall.

Junior Nghi Ngo rallied on the final day of the tournament to sneak into the overall top 10. Ngo ended the first day of competition tied for 25th but rallied on the final day with a one-over par 72 to finish tied for ninth overall (75-78-72 - 226). Sophomore Taylor Stockton struggled on the final day but still managed to finish tied for 16th overall with a 75-74-79 - 228.

Senior Katelyn McDougal rounded out the scorecard for Lamar. She finished tied for21st overall after recording rounds of 75-76-80 - 231.

Lamar returns to action Monday, Oct. 7th, when they travel to Huntsville, Texas to compete in the Harold Funston Invitational. The two-day event will consist of 36 holes the first day and 18 on Tuesday.
