Persson Leads Lamar Effort After First Day At ORU Shootout

TULSA, Okla. -- Linda Persson's 36-hole score of 152 paced the Lamar women's golf team on the first day of the ORU Shootout at Meadowbrook Golf Club Monday.

Persson is in third place following rounds of 75 and 77 on the par-72, 6,196-yard layout. She is the only LU golfer among the top-30 with Tuesday's final round left to play.

Lauren Van Gerven is tied for 36th with a 77-85--162 score, Stine Pedersen is in 56th place after her 84-83--167 and Ashley Thorpe is tied for 59th as she turned in a 83-86--169 total. Fabienne Haremza turned in rounds of 89 and 87 for a 176.

Lamar was in eighth place after a 319 in the morning round but a 331 dropped the team one spot into a tie for ninth with Drury at 650. Tournament-host Oral Roberts leads the 13-team field with a 620 total. Louisiana-Monroe is two shots back at 626, followed by Sam Houston State at 624 and UTEP at 626.

ULM's Angela Drane holds the individual lead with a 76-70--146 total. Paige Martin of Oklahoma City University is in second, one stroke ahead of Persson at 76-75--151.

The final round is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
