Persson Ties For Third At LPGA International Xavier Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Lamar senior Linda Persson shot a final round 78 to finish in a tie for third in the LPGA International Xavier Invitational at the LPGA Legends Course Sunday.

Persson, who was the co-leader after each of the first two rounds was unable to maintain her low scoring and completed the tournament with a 220 score at 4-over-par.

As a team, Lamar tied for ninth with a 305-312-318--935 total for its third top-10 finish in as many fall events.

Daytona State College led wire-to-wire and cruised to the team title with an 881 score on its home course. Campbell finished second at 888, Stetson was third at 895, Xavier was fourth at 905 and Augusta State was fifth at 907.

Lauren Van Gerven shot three-consecutive rounds of 79 to finish tied for 45th at 237. Ashley Thorpe and Stine Pederson tied for 55th at 239, and Fabienne Haremza's 251 tally after 54 holes placed her in a tie for 76th.

Lamar will conclude its fall season Nov. 2-3 when it travels to Lake Charles, La. for the Cowgirl Fall Invitational, hosted by McNeese State at the Lake Charles Country Club.
