Lady Cardinals Tied for Second After Day One in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Lamar Lady Cardinal golf team fired a 296-300 - 596 on the opening day of the Lady Raider Invitational to finish the day in a two-tie for second heading into Tuesday's final round of action. Lamar is only three strokes back of Southern Illinois (593) for the overall team lead.

Led by freshman Wenny Chang who fired an opening-day two-over par 146 on the 6,177-yard, par-72 Old Fort Golf Club course. Chang enters Tuesday tied for fifth overall, but is seven strokes back of Morehead State's Anna Appert Lund for the individual lead.

Sophomore Taylor Stockton is just outside the overall top 10 after firing a five-over 149. She finished day tied for 11th overall. Junior Nghi Ngo is tied for 18th but only a stroke behind Stockton. Freshman Bertille DuPont finished the day tied for 23rd with an opening-day 75-76 - 151.

Senior Katelyn McDougal closed out the Lamar scorecard with 158. McDougal is currently tied for 55th with 18 holes remaining.

The Lady Cardinals return to action Tuesday for the final round of competition in Murfreesboro. LU will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
