Nilsson Finishes Fifth To Lead Lamar At Lady Colonel Intercollegiate

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Therese Nilsson had a tournament-best two eagles and finished in fifth place to pace Lamar to a sixth-place showing at the Lady Colonel Intercollegiate at The Bridges Golf Club on Tuesday.

Nilsson shot rounds of 73-76--149 to record her second-consecutive top-five finish of the fall - she won the Xavier Invitational two weeks ago. She had an eagle in each round this week while her 26 pars were tied for the most in the tourney.

Channing Norton and Lina Nilsson-Balfe tied for 17th with 36-hole totals of 156. Norton carded a pair of 78s with five total birdies and had the only other eagle in the tourney as well. Nilsson-Balfe had another top-20 showing with rounds of 76-80.

Linda Persson tied for 32nd at 82-79--161 and Jennel Alexander tied for 44t at 84-82--166.

McNeese State won the team title with a 597 total, ahead of Sam Houston State at 607 and Samford at 611. Southern Miss and South Alabama tied for fourth at 621, one stroke ahead of Lamar's 309-313--622 score.

This concludes the fall season for the Lady Cardinals.
