JONESBORO, Ark. - Senior Casey Cain posted her second straight top five finish, leading the Lamar women's golf team to a seventh place finish at the rain-shortened Arkansas State Lady Indian Classic Tuesday at Jonesboro Country Club.

The classic was reduced to just 18 holes after Monday's first two rounds were washed out due to inclement weather.

Cain, a Lumberton native, fired a 5-over par 77 on the 6,011-yard course to finish in an eight-way tie for third place. Kelly Gerlach of Southern Illinois defeated Paige Padgett of North Texas in a playoff to win medalist honors. Both golfers finished at 3-over 75.

North Texas claimed the team championship with an 18-hole score of 309. Texas State was second at 313 and Southern Illinois placed third at 314. Lamar posted a 322 to tie for seventh place with host ASU.

Freshman Hillary Zeigler tied for 14th for the Lady Cardinals after carding a 79. Junior Jennifer Anders shot an 81 and tied for 30th. Junior Christa Gunn and sophomore Jamie Shirley both shot 85 to tie for 56th.

Lamar continues its fall schedule Oct. 25-26 at the Sam Houston Women's Invitational.
