Lamar Golf Teams In Action Monday And Tuesday

The Lamar men's and women's golf teams will be participating in tournaments along the coast of Texas this week.

The 23rd-ranked men's team will take on a field of 12 teams at the All-American Intercollegiate Invitational at The Tradition Course at Cyrpresswood Golf Club.

Included in the field are Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Houston, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, North Texas, Texas Southern and Texas State.

The first round will tee off Monday at 8 am with the afternoon session scheduled to begin at 1 pm The final round is slated to begin at 8 am Tuesday morning.

Lamar finished second a year ago with a two-day total of 873, one shot behind Kansas.

The Cardinal women's team will travel to Corpus Christi for the Islander Spring Classic at the Corpus Christi Country Club. Where they will be one of 11 teams, including six Southland Conference schools, led by defending champion Sam Houston State.

The other SLC participants include McNeese State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State and UTSA, in addition to North Texas, Oral Roberts, Toledo, Texas-Pan American and McLennan Community College.

The teams will play two rounds on Monday beginning at 8:15 a.m. and a single round on Tuesday.

In last year's event, the Lady Cards finished third with a 906 total. Their final round score of 295 was the lowest of either day.
