BEAUMONT - After posting a pair of runner-up finishes and leading the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back tournament titles, Lamar University senior Julie Aime was named the Southland Conference Golfer of the Month for February, the league office announced today.
Aime helped Lamar to wins at the Le Triomphe Collegiate Invitational hosted by McNeese State and the Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. A native of Cannes, France, Aime was just two strokes from medalist honors at Le Triomphe and three shots shy at the Islander Classic.
For the month, Aime averaged 75.0 strokes per round for five rounds. She was the only player to break par at the Islander Classic with a 2-under-par score of 70 in the final round.
A two-time All-Southland Conference performer heading into this season, Aime is currently sporting a team-best scoring average of 74.3 strokes per round this year. Aime, who won the ULM Fred Marx Invitational in the fall, has three career individual victories.
The Lady Cardinals will look for their third straight tournament title at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate from Augusta, Ga. on March 15-17.
