FRISCO, Texas -
Freshman Bertille DuPont has been named Southland Golfer of the Month announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. It marks the fourth time a Lady Cardinal has received the honor this season, and the third time a Lamar freshman has earned the award.
"I'm very proud of Bertille," said head coach Brian White. "She is very deserving of the honor. She has been playing some of her best golf over the past three weeks which is perfect timing as we prepare for the Southland Conference Championships."
Dupont guided the Lady Cardinals to a top-five finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic Tuesday afternoon. Although the tournament was hosted by Wyoming, it was played at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.
Dupont fired a three-round 76-74-75 - 225 (+9) to finish in a six-way tie for 10th. She recorded par, or better, 42 times during the three rounds in Arizona. Dupont has been one of Lamar's most consistent players over the course of the past three weeks having won two of the team's past three tournaments.
Lamar returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Magnolia, Texas, to open the Southland Conference Championships. The three-day tournament will take place at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club.
