The Lamar Lady Cardinal golf team will open the 2013-14 season Monday at the FedEx Memphis women's Intercollegiate at the Ridgeway Country Club in Germantown, Tenn. The fourth annual event will consist of 36 holes Monday, followed by the final round of 18 Tuesday morning. Lamar will be one of 12 teams competing in the event along with Alabama State, IUPUI, host Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, New Orleans, North Florida, North Texas, Samford, Texas Southern as well as Southland foes McNeese State and Sam Houston State.

"We return everyone from last season except two players," said head coach Brian White who is entering his 15th season. "It is always tough to replace your No. 1 (Julie Amie) but we have two nice recruits that we've added to the roster. I believe we will have more depth this season, but we won't be quite as strong at the No. 1 spot. I feel because of our depth we can be as strong as last season."

Teams are slated to tee off at 8:15 a.m. on 6,105-yard, par-71 the Ridgeway Country Club course.

Lamar is coming off a 2012-13 season that saw it rally to win the 2013 Southland Conference title in thrilling fashion. The Lady Cardinals entered the final day of competition four strokes behind the leader but rallied to card a 12-over 300 in the final 18 holes to take the championship. LU finished the three-day tournament with a 27-over 891.

LU was led to the title, its fourth in program history by Katelyn McDougal, who returns for her junior season. McDougal carded a five-over par 75-72-74 - 221 to finish fourth overall. She closed out the year earning honorable mention all-conference honors.

In addition to McDougal, Lamar also returns Nghi Ngo and Taylor Stockton. Ngo closed out her sophomore campaign by earning first-team all-conference honors. She recorded the team's second-lowest stroke average, while recording four top-10 finishes. Stockton played in 12 tournaments as a freshman season a 78.1 stroke average. The Clear Lake, Texas native finished her rookie campaign with three top-10 finishes including one top-five performance.

The additions to the 2013-14 roster are Wenny Chang and Bertille DuPont. Chang comes to LU from Taiwan, while DuPont is a native of France.
