HOUMA, La. - The Lamar University women's golf team continues its fall schedule Monday and Tuesday at the L.D.R Investments/Lady Colonel Collegiate hosted by Nicholls State University at Ellendale Country Club (Par-72, 6,012-yards).
The nine-team field will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday for a 54-hole event. Tee times for both days begin at 8 a.m. Some of the teams competing in addition to host Nicholls State and Lamar are defending champion South Alabama, Sam Houston State, Centenary, Troy and Jackson State.
Lamar is coming off a fifth place finish at the LPGA International Xavier Invitational. Linda Persson, a sophomore from Hollviken, Sweden, placed second to pace the Lady Cardinals. She shot a career-low round of 3-under 69 in the second round and posted a 54-hole score of 3-over 219.
Persson leads the team with a 75.63 scoring average over eight rounds this fall. Therese Nilsson, who tied for fourth at the Xavier Invitational, is second on the team with a 76.25 scoring average. Hillary Zeigler, a senior from Livingston, is third with a 79.33 scoring average over six rounds.
Channing Norton, a junior from Cleveland, has a 79.63 scoring average over eight rounds. Bonnie Howard, a senior from Carrollton, has an 80.75 scoring average. As a team, Lamar has a 308.88 per round scoring average.
