FRISCO, Texas -
Freshman Wenny Chang has been named Southland Conference Women's Golfer of the Month announced league officials Wednesday evening. Chang becomes the second Lamar women's golfer to receive the honor this season (Taylor Stockton).
Despite her underclassman status, Chang guided the Lady Cardinal golf team to consecutive top-three finishes in the month of October, including a runner-up finish at the Harold Funston Invitational in Huntsville, Texas. A native of Taiwan, Chang took the individual title at the Harold Funston Invitational when she fired a two-over par 215.
Chang, who fired three even-par rounds during the two tournaments, also recorded an eighth-place finish at the Lady Blue Raider Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Lamar finished third overall at that tournament.
Chang finished the month recording a 73.2 stroke average in six rounds of action.
The Lady Blue Raider Invitational was the team's final tournament of the fall season. Lamar returns to action Monday, Feb. 10, when they travel to Broussard, La., to compete in the Le Triomphe Collegiate Invitational.
