BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University women's soccer coach Orlando Cervantes announced that Alexandria Vigil has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Lamar on a soccer scholarship.
Vigil, a midfielder from Flower Mound, Texas, played high school soccer at Flower Mound High School and club soccer for the Dallas Texans.
"Alexandria plays for one of the top club teams in the nation," Cervantes said. "We're looking forward to having her at Lamar."
Vigil was a first-team all-district player at Flower Mound in 2012, helping her team win a district championship and advancing to the third round of the state tournament. Her club team, the Dallas Texans, placed third at the national championships in each of the past two seasons.
Vigil, the daughter of Jana and Ray Vigil, plans to major in physical therapy at Lamar.
The Lady Cardinals are coming off their best season ever, finishing 11-9-1 overall and 6-2 in the Southland Conference, advancing to the tournament title game for the first time in the six-year history of the program.
