BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's soccer team, coming off its best season in program history, will play an 19-game schedule in 2013, including eight games at the Lamar Soccer Complex.

Lamar opens the season with a home game against Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. The Cardinals will host Southern in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. Sept. 20. Lamar will play four non-conference games away from home, with road games at Northern Arizona and Rice as well as two games at the UTSA Tournament.

Lamar will play 12 Southland Conference games (four more than last season), with six of those at home. SLC opponents coming to Lamar are Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, Houston Baptist, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word. Lamar will play four Friday home games at 7 p.m. and four Sunday home games at 1 p.m.

Lamar will play UMass at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Tomball High School in Tomball, Texas, in a neutral-site contest.

The Southland Conference Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 7-10 at McNeese State.

"I think it's a very good schedule," second-year Lamar coach Orlando Cervantes said. "The addition of Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word and Houston Baptist to our conference along with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi starting soccer gives us more conference games.  Our conference will be tough and we have some very good non-conference games with teams like Rice and Northern Arizona."

Last season, Lamar went 11-9-1 overall, placing second in the Southland Conference with a 6-2-0 mark. The Lady Cardinals fell to Stephen F. Austin in the conference championship game.

Season tickets for the eight Lamar home games are $25 for adults and $15 for youths from ages 4 to 18. Single-game tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youths. Children 3 and younger and Lamar students with a valid ID receive free admission. For ticket information, visit www.LamarCardinals.com, or call (409) 880-1715.
