Lady Cards open soccer season on Aug. 19
Aug. 3, 2011
BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's soccer team will play a 19-game schedule in 2011, a slate highlighted by eight home contests at the Lamar Soccer Complex. The Lady Cardinals open the season at 10 a.m. Aug. 19, when they host Jackson State in a Friday morning matinee. Lamar will play four home night games at 7 p.m. Fridays, with the other three home games set for 1 p.m. Sundays. The road schedule is highlighted by a trip to the Hilton Garden Inn High Altitude Tournament in Flagstaff, Ariz., with contests against Evansville and Ball State, and a West Coast trip for games at Pepperdine and UC Riverside. Lamar will play a nine-game Southland Conference schedule, with four home conference clashes. The Lady Cards will host Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Central Arkansas and Northwestern State in home Southland games. "I think we have a very exciting schedule," Lamar coach Dewi Hardman said. "We have some very challenging non-conference games, and that should get us ready for Southland play." The Lady Cardinals, who are entering their fifth season of existence, are coming off their most successful campaign. Lamar went 5-11-3 in 2010, including a 3-4-2 mark in the conference, as it qualified for the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time ever. This year's conference tourney is scheduled for Nov. 3-6 at Northwestern State. Season tickets for Lamar home games are $25 for adults and $15 for youngsters from ages 4 to 18. Individual game tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youngsters. Lamar students with a valid ID and children 3 years of age and younger are admitted for free.
