Lamar Looks For Elusive Victory At McNeese State Tournament This Weekend

The Lamar women's soccer team will face Louisiana-Monroe and Grambling State as part of the McNeese State Soccer Tournament this weekend in Lake Charles, La. The Cardinals are 0-1 on the young season after dropping a 4-0 decision at Texas Tech last Friday. On Friday they will face a ULM squad that is playing its first game of the year. The Warhawks went 8-11-1 a year ago and were picked to finish 10th in the Sun Belt after an eighth-place showing at 4-6-1. Friday's game will kickoff at 5:30 p.m. and will be played at the Lake Charles Multi-Sports Complex. On Sunday, Lamar will face Grambling at 11 a.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Field on McNeese's campus. The Lady Tigers are 0-1 after losing 9-0 at Auburn last Friday. GSU was picked to win the SWAC Western Division for the sixth-consecutive season. Grambling defeated Lamar 6-0 in Beaumont last year. Lamar will open the home portion of its schedule next Friday when it plays host to South Alabama at Cardinal Stadium at 7 p.m.
