Jennifer Gibbs Named SLC Goalkeeper of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference announced the soccer players of the week for September 30 as Stephen F. Austin junior forward Brenna Crockett, Texas State sophomore defender Jessica Lewis and Lamar freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Gibbs are recognized by vote from the conference sports information directors. Lamar moves into a tie with Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State for most awards in the SLC with three.

The award is the second of the season for Gibbs, who earned the same honor following Lamar's win over South Alabama earlier this year.

Goalkeeper of the Week - Jennifer Gibbs, Lamar

She stopped all four shots on goal in a 1-0 win at Prairie View A&M as she recorded Lamar's first shutout and road win in school history. She is 2-1 as a starter recording both of Lamar's wins, while her season save pct. of .800 is sixth in the SLC. She ranks fifth in the SLC with a 1.3 goals-against average.

Honorable Mention: Lacey Bockhaus, SLU; Nicoline Joergensen, UTSA; Jenny Pence, SHSU.

Offensive Player of the Week - Brenna Crockett, Stephen F. Austin

Recorded first career multi-game goal and first hat trick for a Ladyjack since 2007. Her seven points put her in a tie for third on the SFA single-game records list. Crockett had two career goals coming into Sunday's game.

Defensive Player of the Week - Jessica Lewis, Texas State

Jessica Lewis aided the Bobcats shutout double-overtime tie against the Baylor Bears. Lewis was one of eleven players who competed the entirety of the game due to illness that left Texas State without any substitutions. Lewis attempted five shots, two of which landed on goal.
