Aline Pugliesi Named SLC Offensive Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - Lamar senior Aline Pugliesi was voted the Southland Conference soccer offensive player of the week by the league's sports information directors, placing her as one of three conference players with two weekly awards on the year, joining Jenny Pence of Sam Houston State and Shelby Money of McNeese State. The award is the fourth for the Lady Cardinals creating a four-way tie between Lamar, Southeastern Louisiana, McNeese State and Texas State for most team awards this season. Northwestern State sophomores April Madden and Lindy Strahan were named the defensive player and goalkeeper of the week respectively. Both awards mark the first for the Lady Demons individually and for the team this year.

Offensive Player of the Week - Aline Pugliesi, Lamar
Led Lamar to a 1-1 week with three goals, including the game-winner in Lamar's first-ever conference win on Sunday. She converted a penalty kick against Southeastern Louisiana that tied the game and forced overtime. Pugliesi scored the first two goals in the 3-1 win over Nicholls State, including one at the 5:28 mark - the fastest goal in LU soccer history. She ranks seventh in the conference in goals per game and eighth in points per game.
