The Lamar University women's soccer team swept the Southland Conference Player of the Week awards, the conference announced Monday.
Senior Lisa Hance was named the Offensive Player of the Week, senior Jennifer Gibbs was named Goalkeeper of the Week, and sophomore Amber Thornhill was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Hance scored four goals over two games, leading Lamar to a 2-1 victory over Central Arkansas and a 3-1 win over Northwestern State, as the Lady Cardinals (9-7-2 overall, 6-2-1) secured third place in the conference, Lamar's best finish in the five-year history of the program.
Hance had one goal in the win over Central Arkansas and scored all three Lamar goals in the Lady Cardinals' victory over Northwestern State.
Hance has a school-record eight goals this season to give her a school-record 18 for her career.
Gibbs made seven saves over two games, giving her a school-record nine wins this season. Gibbs is among the Southland Conference leaders in wins, saves, save percentage, goals-against average and shutouts.
Thornhill played all 180 minutes in the two wins, and had a pair of assists in the victory over Northwestern State, setting up the game-winning goal and insurance tally by Hance.
Lamar opens play in the Southland Conference Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Thursday when it meets Sam Houston State in the first round at Northwestern State.
