FRISCO, Texas - Lamar senior Aline Pugliesi was named to the All-Southland Conference Women's Soccer Team as an Honorable Mention selection on Tuesday, marking the first postseason honor for a Cardinal in school history.

One of Lamar's starting forwards each of the two seasons the program has been in existence, Pugliesi has totaled eight goals, two assists, 18 points and two game-winning goals. The forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, leaves Lamar as the career leader in goals, points, shots, shots on goal, games started and minutes played.

In 2008 Pugliesi ranked ninth in the conference in goals with seven despite missing a pair of games midway through the season. Her .50 goals per game average was sixth in the league. She was also named Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, becoming the only non-goalkeeper to earn multiple POW honors in the SLC.

Some of her highlights from the 2008 campaign included scoring the first goal in the program's inaugural win in Sept. over South Alabama, notching a goal and an assists in Lamar's 2-2 tie at Central Arkansas and recording her first two game-winning goals at home against Nicholls State two weeks ago, followed by the golden goal with four minutes left in Sunday's 2-1 come-from-behind win at Sam Houston State. The wins over Nicholls and Sam Houston marked the first-ever SLC home and road victories in school history.

The league coaches and sports information directors voted for the teams and selected four forwards, three midfielders, three defenders and one goalkeeper on both the first and second teams. Representatives were not allowed to vote for student-athletes from their own institution.

Texas State's Kat Conner was selected the Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to the regular-season title despite being picked to finish sixth in the preseason. Kamryn Koch of McNeese State was named the Player of the Year as she led the league with 19 goals and 44 points over the Cowgirls 19-game season.

Erica Michaud of Texas State and Jenna Oney of Southeastern Louisiana were voted Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, respectively to round out the league awards.
