Three Lady Cardinals earn all-academic honors

BEAUMONT, Texas - Three members of the Lamar University women's soccer team were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic women's soccer team, the conference announced today. Defenders Rachelle Barry and Jennifer Torry were selected for the first team, while forward Lisa Hance was named to the second team. Barry, a graduate student, has a 3.86 grade-point average as she pursues a master's degree in kinesiology. Torry, a junior majoring in English, has a perfect 4.00 GPA. Barry and Torry were both second-team selections on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Barry appeared in 18 games this season, scoring three goals, two of them game-winners. Torry appeared in 15 games, helping Lamar set a school record for fewest goals allowed in a season (27). Hance, a senior majoring in criminal justice, has a 3.16 GPA. She leaves Lamar as the leader in points (49), goals (18) and assists (13). She led the team in scoring this season with 21 points on eight goals and five assists. It was the second straight season Hance was named to the second team. The Lady Cardinals enjoyed their finest season in the five-year history of the program, posting a 9-8-2 overall record and finishing third in the conference with a 6-2-1 record. LAMAR
