BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team heads to Texas Southern for a non-conference game at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The game is scheduled for Memorial Park in Houston.
The Lady Cardinals (12-17) look to snap a two-game losing streak after dropping their final two games of a three-game Southland Conference series at Stephen F. Austin over the weekend.
Candyce Carter leads Lamar in most hitting categories. The center fielder is batting .370 with four home runs and 13 RBIs, all team highs. Her .480 on-base percentage and .642 slugging also lead the team.
Texas Southern (13-5) is on a four-game winning streak after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader from Bucknell on Saturday. Thomasina Garza is hitting .492 with two home runs and 26 RBIs for the Lady Tigers.
Following Tuesday’s game, Lamar opens the home portion of its Southland Conference schedule with a three-game series against Sam Houston State at Ford Park. The series begins with a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Saturday before concluding with a single game at 3 p.m. Sunday.
