Bruder throws out first pitch
March 21, 2012
BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University softball coach Holly Bruder threw out the first pitch at opening day of the Gulf Coast Girls Softball League, formerly the Spindletop Girls Softball League. Bruder also gave a motivational speech to the youngsters before they took to the diamonds to play their first game of the season. At this time next year, Bruder will be giving motivational speeches to her own team at Lamar, as the university revives its softball program after having the sport from 1983 until 1987. Bruder and assistant coach Allison Honkofsky have already signed 18 student-athletes to play softball at Lamar next season. With the addition of softball, Lamar will offer every sport the Southland Conference competes in. LAMAR
