BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar Lady Cardinals close out the non-conference portion of their 2013 softball schedule by hosting Texas State at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Ford Park.

Lamar (21-29) is 10-19 in non-conference games this season, but 6-2 in non-league games at Ford Park, where they have an overall record of 13-4 this spring. Following Tuesday's game, Lamar wraps up the season with a pair of three-game Southland Conference series. The Lady Cardinals are at Central Arkansas this weekend before hosting Houston Baptist at Ford Park on May 4-5.

Texas State is 12-33 this season. The Bobcats left the Southland Conference this season for the WAC, where they have a record of 7-8.

"I think this will be a good game to get us ready for the next two weekends," Lamar coach Holly Bruder said. "Texas State has struggled this year, but their pitching is pretty good. Hopefully, we can get our bats going."

Lamar, which is tied for fourth place in the Southland Conference with Central Arkansas, scored just four runs in a three-game series at McNeese State this weekend. As a team, the Lady Cardinals are hitting .261 with 41 home runs.

Candyce Carter leads Lamar with a .361 batting average and 26 RBIs. Carter is tied with Ashley McDowell for the team lead in home runs with nine.

Texas State is hitting .233 with 14 home runs on the season. Haley Lemons leads the Bobcats with a .305 batting average. Courtney Harris has a team-best 24 RBIs. The Bobcats have a team ERA of 3.73.
