Softball heads to LSU Tournament
Oct. 4, 2012
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team faces its toughest challenge of the fall exhibition season when it plays three games at the LSU Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Cardinals will face LSU-Eunice and Belhaven in their first two games before meeting LSU in the finale. Last season, LSU finished eight at the College Softball World Series. The Lady Cardinals are 2-0-1 this spring, but Bruder knows Saturday’s opponents are a step up in competition. “LSU-Eunice won the NJCAA title two years ago and Belhaven is a good team. Of course, LSU is just a tremendous team. They have the best pitching we are going to see all year, including in the spring.” Bruder noted that three games in one day is not a common occurrence in softball. “It will be tough on our pitchers, especially because we play LSU in the final game,” she said. “It’s definitely going to be a challenge.” #LUsoftball
