MOBILE, Ala. - The Lamar University women's tennis team moved to 5-0 on the season with a 7-0 victory over South Alabama in a non-conference match Saturday.

Mariaryeni Gutierrez ran her winning streak in singles competition to 2matches dating back to last spring with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Alina Volman at No. 1 singles. Gutierrez teamed with Kaltrina Harbuzi to move to 5-0 at No. 1 doubles with an 8-5 win over Volman and Katie Welch. Harbuzi boosted her record to 5-0 at second singles with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over Chane Hines.

Natalia Mayagoitia, Alessandra Pennesi, Diana Mendez and Helene Czudek also won at singles for Lamar.

South Alabama fell to 0-3.

Lamar is at Southern Mississippi at 10 a.m. Sunday.
