Alessandra Pennesi registered the only win for the Lamar University women's team in a 5-1 loss to 61st-ranked Tulane in a non-conference match Friday at Louisiana-Lafayette.
Pennesi scored a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 victory over Lindsay Dvorak at No. 5 singles. It was the third win in a row for Pennesi, who improved to 10-4 on the season.
Lamar's Carolina Salas saw her six-match winning streak at No. 1 singles come to an end with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 loss to Mariam Kurdadze. Tulane (14-5) won the other four singles matches in straight sets. There was no doubles competition.
"We have to regroup," Lamar coach David Wong said.
Lamar (6-8) returns to action with a non-conference match at Louisiana-Lafayette at 2 p.m. Saturday before hosting Nicholls in a Southland Conference match at noon Sunday.
