BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's tennis team opens Southland Conference play with a pair of home matches this weekend.

The Lady Cardinals (2-3 overall) host Texas State at 11 a.m. Saturday and UT Arlington at 11 a.m. Sunday. Both matches will be played at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on the Lamar campus. Admission is free.

Lamar has been idle since Feb. 12, when it claimed two victories on the same day by posting wins over Prairie View A&M and Abilene Christian.

Texas State is 4-1 overall and is opening its conference schedule on Saturday. UT Arlington is 4-3 overall and 2-0 in Southland Conference play.

Carolina Salas is 3-2 at first singles for Lamar.
