BEAUMONT – After rain derailed the originally scheduled conference-opener between McNeese State and Lamar, the two sides will try again on Thursday afternoon in Beaumont at the Municipal Tennis Center.
The match was moved as the courts at Thompson Family Tennis Center on campus are being resurfaced.
Lamar will be looking to extend its five-match winning streak in Beaumont after splitting a pair of Southland matches on the road last weekend, winning 4-3 at Nicholls and falling 6-1 at Southeastern Louisiana. The Lady Cards are now 5-7 with a 1-1 mark in conference play.
McNeese will be coming into the encounter with a 9-6 record, and dropped both matches to SLU and Nicholls in 5-2 fashion. The Cowgirls are 5-8 all-time vs. David Wong’s LU squads, and the Lady Cards have taken home each of the previous eight.
Natalia Mayagoitia has been the most successful player in the LU line-up and boasts of an 8-4 record this spring. Both Carolina Maso and Alessandra Pennesi have five victories, and the trio of Dariya Dashutina, Alicia Porte and Carolina Salas has combined for 12.
First serve at Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center is scheduled for 1 p.m.
