BEAUMONT – The Lamar women’s tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches on its brief reprieve from Southland play, and the Lady Cardinals will be look to get back on track in league action with a meeting vs. Central Arkansas on Saturday at Thompson Family Tennis Center.
With eight singles victories this season, Katya Lapayeva has been one of the team’s most consistent performers. The freshman from Belarus has played primarily at No. 5 this season, posting a 5-2 record at the position.
LU is 4-8 this season and 1-3 in Southland matches.
Dariya Dashutina has held down the top spot for much of the year, and she enters the weekend with four singles wins, while the trio of Carolina Masó, Alicia Porte and Anna Spengler has combined for nine victories.
Masó and Porte have been the strongest doubles team, combining for three wins in eight matches.
UCA carries a 1-6 conference record into the match and holds an 8-9 overall mark. The Sugar Bears picked up a win over Sam Houston State last time out, which brought an end to six-match losing streak.
First serve is set for noon.
