Lamar Tennis Hosts Three Matches Over the Weekend

March 30, 2007

BEAUMONT - The Lamar University men's and women's tennis teams return to Southland Conference play this weekend, hosting a trio of matches at the Cardinal Courts.

The Lady Cardinals start the weekend with a 10:00 a.m. match against Stephen F. Austin, and close out the weekend against Sam Houston State on Sunday at 11 a.m. They enter the weekend with a 4-1 record in SLC play, and a 9-7 overall mark on the season.

The Lamar men play their home opener on Sunday, taking on SLC foe UT-Pan American on 12 noon. In their previous match up against the Broncs earlier this season, Lamar picked up a 4-0 win. The Cards enter the weekend with a 7-8 record on the year and a 2-1 record in Southland Conference play after taking a pair of matches from Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State last weekend.

Admission to all of the matches is free and door prizes will be available to all fans in attendance. A tennis clinic held by women's head coach David Wong and Men's coach Aldrin Campos will be up for grabs, a "hit the target" contest for prizes during the doubles/singles intermission and free food and drinks are available at all home matches.
