FRISCO - After an immensely successful showing last week, Carolina Salas took home the Southland Conference's Women's Tennis Player of the Week award on Tuesday afternoon.
Salas, a senior out of Monterrey, Mexico, picked up a pair of straight-set decisions last week, helping the Lady Cardinals to dominating 7-0 wins over both Central Arkansas and Oral Roberts. Salas was also an exemplary doubles player, teaming with Helene Czudek for a pair of doubles victories.
Salas picked up both singles victories at the No. 1 slot, defeating UCA's Simona Horsikyan 6-4, 6-2 and ORU's Haley Martin 7-5, 6-1.
Lamar is now 8-7 on the season with a 4-1 mark in Southland play.
This is the second career weekly honor for Salas and the first for a Lady Card this season. She previously earned it last April.
The Lady Cards will continue conference play later this week with matches at Sam Houston State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
