BEAUMONT – The Lamar women’s tennis team will be aiming to get back on track this weekend with a trio of road matches, beginning with a match at former Southland foe UTSA before returning to conference play with matches at Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Lady Cardinals (4-9, 1-4 Southland) are looking to snap a four-game conference skid, and they will likely be led by the duo of Dariya Dashutina and Katya Lapayeva. Dashutina, a native of Ukraine, has won two of her last three and has spent much of the season at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Lapayeva is hoping to become the first LU player to notch 10 wins this season and is entering the weekend with three straight victories and a 9-4 overall record while playing primarily on line five.

The trio of Carolina Masó, Alicia Porte and Anna Spengler has combined for nine singles wins, and both Hanna Elfving and Nadiya Kulibaba have a pair apiece.

In doubles, Porte and Masó lead the team with a 3-8 mark, and the tandem of Dashutina and Elfving is 3-8.

LU will begin the stretch with UTSA on Thursday. The Roadrunners are 9-7 this season and are coming into the encounter on the heels of four consecutive victories. The Lady Cards will square off with UIW on Saturday, and the hosts will be looking to bounce back from an 0-7 Southland start with a 3-14 overall record. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has won five straight and will take on both Prairie View and Sam Houston State prior to Sunday’s meeting with the Red and White. The Islanders are 11-4 this year with a 5-1 conference record.
