FRISCO – As the Lamar women’s tennis team sits just two days away from the start of play at the Southland Tournament, three Lady Cardinals were honored on Wednesday by the conference as both Dariya Dashutina and Carolina Salas were named to the All-SLC Second Team in singles, and the duo of Salas and Hélène Czudek took home the same recognition in doubles.

Salas, who earned SLC Newcomer of the Year a season ago, compiled a 5-4 SLC record at No. 1 singles this season, helping the Lady Cardinals tie for second in the league with a 7-2 mark. Dashutina played exclusively at the third position in conference play, ending 6-2 in the SLC and 10-8 overall.

This marks the fourth straight season that multiple Lady Cards were named to an all-conference team and the sixth consecutive that at least one was selected.

In doubles, Salas and Czudek teamed up for 5-4 SLC mark at the top spot, becoming the first LU duo to earn a place on the team since 2011. They became just the 12th duo to earn the designation.

Lamar, which boasts of a 7-0 record at home this season, will begin play at the Southland Championships at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center on Friday morning against Sam Houston State.
