BEAUMONT, Texas - Dariya Dashutina, a nationally ranked women's tennis player at Seward County Community College, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Lamar University this fall.

"She will be a great addition to our program," Lamar University women's tennis coach David Wong said. "She is a hard-working player who is fast and strong."

Dashutina won the consolation title at No. 1 singles at the National Junior College Athletic Association championships this spring, helping Seward County CC to finish 23rd in the nation. She was ranked 11th in the NJCAA in singles competition.

As a freshman, Dashutina placed ninth in the NJCAA championships at No. 1 singles, as Seward County CC placed 12th in the nation.

Last season, Lamar went 12-10 overall and 7-4 in the Southland Conference.

"Dariya will be able to step right in to the starting lineup," Wong said. "I think she will make an immediate impact."
