Women's tennis heads to Corpus Christi
Sept. 13, 2012
BEAUMONT - Head coach David Wong saw a lot that he liked about his team in last week's Auburn Invitational. This week, as he prepares to take a different group to the Islander Invitational in Corpus Christi, he hopes to see the same type of play from the Lady Cards this week.
"I think we were pretty strong last week, so I'm looking forward to seeing this group play," Wong said. "I've seen a lot of improvement from them during practice, but I'm really excited to see how they play under pressure."
"Maso played number three for me last year, so I'm looking forward to seeing how she hangs in there," Wong said. "I'm really excited to see Lara Bogdan play after she missed last year due to shoulder surgery, but honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing all four play."
This week's tournament will take place on the campus of Southland foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and it will be the first chance for Wong and his team to catch a glimpse of some of their future spring opponents.
"It helps when we get to see the competition in the league," Wong said. "This gives me a chance to see where other teams are at with their players, and gives us a good opportunity to scout the competition."
Lamar will begin play at the Islander Invitational on Friday.
