Women's Tennis headed to Northwestern State

BEAUMONT – After a successful tournament in Louisiana last weekend, the Lamar women’s tennis team is set to make another trip to the state, this time to Natchitoches, to participate at the Lady Demon Invite at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
“Last weekend was the first time that we took eight players this year,” head coach David Wong said. “I thought we had a good performance. We won 22 matches and lost just eight. I’ve seen a lot of improvement, and we’re going to take all eight again this weekend. I’m looking forward to it.”
Despite the success at UL, Wong will continue to tinker with his line-up as he prepares for the spring season.
“There are still things that we would like to improve,” Wong said. “We’re going to try a few different positions for some of the players, just to try and challenge them. We’re also going to try some new doubles teams.”
This weekend marks the fifth in six that the Lady Cards have hit the road for a tournament. The event will take place over three days and include seven other teams, including conference opponents Northwestern State, Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State.
Play at the Lady Demon Invite will begin on Friday at 8:30 a.m.
