BEAUMONT - The Lady Cardinal tennis team will be looking to build off a strong fall campaign when it plays at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships this weekend on the campus of Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
"I'm looking forward to this weekend," head coach David Wong said. "This is it. This is our time to shine and play some good matches. I think we're going to get some chances to win against some great players from schools all around the state."
The regional will feature 18 schools, all from the state of Texas, including yearly powers Baylor, Rice, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. Southland foe Stephen F. Austin will also be in the field.
"It's the most important tournament of the fall," Carolina Salas said. "There are going to be nationally-ranked players there, and it lets us see how good we are right now."
The tournament is formatted as a 128-player draw for singles and a 64-team draw for doubles. Helene Czudek, Carolina Maso, Alicia Porte and Salas will be making the trip for the Lady Cardinals.
